Obi is a sash for traditional kimono outfits. Each pattern has a meaning. The one I've chosen is called 'kawa' and represents flow, stream or water, as a symbol of abundance.

I created a secret code including 5 characters for each of the oceans, taking inspiration from corals and shells which I've found on Batu Batu island (Malaysia).

 

They are made with burnt rice paper, sumi ink and eventually moulded in resin.
